Why I Have a Tumblr
I didn’t need another blog. I didn’t need to read more pagan news or watch as the new generation finds their way.
I have this account mainly for the pictures. And because I think that this is kind of an awesome setup.
The way I have my Dashboard set up, I get a small smattering of Pagan news mixed in with a few photostreams that make me feel peaceful. Happy. Serene.
One of the reasons that I left the ‘Pagan Web’ years ago was because of the politics and the constant obsession so much of the community has with outrage. Moving from one to the next to the next no matter how small the slight - it’s like watching a junkie searching for their next fix. And it’s just as poisonous.
It’s not Wiccanesque Lite bullshit to want to cultivate peace in your life. It’s not wrong to want to get up each day and feel renewed.
I’ve watched the country of my birth dive head-first into an Orwellian nightmare fit only for science fiction, and drag the rest of the world along behind. And I know that it’s going to get harder before it gets better.
But I choose not to focus on it. I choose to let go of impotent rage. If I can find happiness in the simple turning of the seasons, and the beauty of a new day, then I will. I deserve it.
I’m not blind. I don’t have my head in the sand. I help ‘the cause’ (whichever one has a workable plan) when I can. But I choose beauty over ugliness. I choose peace.
I am only me once. And I won’t live tomorrow’s troubles today.
