Easy Braided Octopus Doll from Martha Stewart Crafts
1. Gather supplies: A skein of yarn, scissors, and a 2-inch Styrofoam ball.
2. Untwist skein of yarn; use 1 strand to cinch its center. Place on a 2-inch Styrofoam ball.
3. Spread the yarn over the ball. Tie another strand beneath the ball. Cut through bottom loops of yarn, creating a tassel.
4. Divide strands into 8 sections; braid each, and tie ends. Trim legs to even. With black thread, sew eyes on the head by stitching over 3 or 4 pieces of yarn.
Gonna have to make one of these for my little girl. <3

I would totally serve a nutella something on these things. They are perfect for desserts too.
I am becoming increasingly disillusioned with and saddened by the current state of social justice efforts, particularly as they often manifest here on Tumblr. The recent debate about cultural appropriation, as well as a lot of the ongoing dialogue about it here, has really caused me to question…
I’ve really nearly given up on tumblr. I don’t think you’re going to find a large community of critical thinkers here, Lupa. I watched the last fight over whatever it was that caused all the ‘you don’t get to have culture because you’re white’ folks to crawl out of the woodwork; it’s infuriatingly short-sighted and more than a little bit ignorant.
I’m beginning to think that it may be better to just cut our collective losses with tumblr. It doesn’t seem to be worth any more than MySpace was.
